This IgM-IgG combined antibody test is used for the rapid qualitative and differential detection of IgG and IgM antibodies of the novel coronavirus in human serum, plasma or whole blood in vitro. These proteins indicate that a person’s immune system has responded to infection with the COVID-19 virus. By using biomarkers from the body’s immune response to SARS-CoV-2 virus instead of looking for the virus itself, the test can help determine if a person has been infected with SARS-CoV-2 virus even after the virus is no longer present. The sensitivity of IgM test is 87,9% and specificity is 100% compared to the RT-PCR. The sensitivity of IgG test is 97,2% during the convalescence period, and specificity is 100%. 
REQUIRES NO INSTRUMENTATION PROVIDES RESULTS IN 10 MINUTES.

Bij algemeen virusinfectiegedrag geeft een IgM-test info over een huidige of recente infectie, terwijl IgG daarnaast ook info geeft over een langduriger immuunrespons. Deze twee aspecten van het infectieverhaal vloeien in elkaar over bij een gecombineerde of totale IgM- en IgG-test. Omdat seroconversie zo'n sterk geïndividualiseerd traject is, kunnen afzonderlijke SARS-CoV-2 IgM- en IgG-tests meer inzicht geven in waar de patiënt zich in zijn infectietijdlijn bevindt.
