De kasten zorgen ook voor een downflow van gefilterde lucht om het experiment te beschermen. Ze zijn aangepast met grotere raamopeningen en koolstoffilters. De grotere raamopeningen zorgen ervoor dat de dierenkooien gemakkelijk het werkstation in en uit kunnen. De koolstofvoorfilters vangen een deel van de vrijkomende geur op en vangen het meeste stof op om de dure HEPA-filters te beschermen. Optioneel kan de kast worden uitgerust met een hydraulische steun waarmee men de kast makkelijk kan laten zakken, wat het in- en uitladen van de dierenkooien vergemakkelijkt.

In the middle of the cabinet, there is an air curtain that prevents contaminants to go from the dirty zone to the clean zone in the cabinet. During the transfer, the operator is protected against potential biohazards. Both sides of the cabinet are open. This makes it easier to make the transfer from the dirty zone to the clean zone with 2 people.
Bedding disposal workstations are laboratoriumkasten that are optimized for cleaning animal cages in animal research centers. Bedding disposal workstations are in fact biological safety kasten klasse I that are adjusted for this application. A class I biosafety cabinet protects the user and the environment from dust, allergens and potential biohazards present in the bedding. It also means that the interior is not sterile, so it should not be used for other purposes. The work surface is fitted with an opening with a grid; underneath the grid there is a waste container. When cleaning animal cages, you can easily dispose the beddings via the opening in the work tray.
