Wat is stoomsterilisatie?
Stoomsterilisatie is een methode die wordt gebruikt in het veld van sterilisatie met behulp van een stoomsterilisator of autoclaaf. Het proces is ontworpen om alle soorten microbieel leven te elimineren, inclusief potentieel schadelijke micro-organismen zoals schimmels, bacteriën, virussen en sporen. De methode kan worden toegepast om materiaal, vloeistoffen (bijvoorbeeld cultuurmedia) of afval te steriliseren.
De procedure van stoomsterilisatie wordt uitgevoerd onder specifieke omstandigheden, waaronder een stoomdruk variërend van 1 tot 5 bar en een sterilisatietemperatuur binnen het bereik van 100 tot 150°C. Veelgebruikte parameters voor stoomsterilisatie zijn:
- 121°C gedurende 15 tot 20 minuten
- 134°C gedurende 3 tot 5 minuten
Deze condities zorgen voor een efficiënte afdoding van micro-organismen om zo te voldoen aan de stenge eisen voor sterilisatie in tal van toepassingen.

Wat zijn de voordelen van een stoomgenerator buiten de drukkamer?
Stoom kan worden gegenereerd door interne verwarmingselementen binnen of buiten het drukvat van de autoclaaf. Wanneer de stoomgenerator zich buiten het drukvat bevindt, is hij nog steeds geïntegreerd in de behuizing van de autoclaaf. Het heeft enkele voordelen om de stoomgenerator buiten het drukvat te plaatsen:
- Much better process control
- Faster heating up to time
- Vacuum can be pulled to ensure 100% removal of air, especially when sterilizing hollow items and waste
- Volume of the external steam generator is smaller and and often does not require a 3rd party for a yearly validation
- Easier to clean the pressure vessel
Wat is een mediabereider?
Een mediaprep of mediapreparator is een apparaat dat sterk lijkt op een autoclaaf, maar speciaal ontworpen is voor mediapreparatie. Het medium wordt bereid (roerder geïntegreerd in het vat) rechtstreeks in het drukvat en kan rechtstreeks naar een vulstation worden gepompt. De voordelen van het gebruik van een mediaprep voor mediapreparaten:
