Virus Genome Sequencing
The genetic code of the 2019-nCoV-2 Corona virus was sequenced thanks to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS). Beckman brings SPRI cleanup chemistries such as
AMPure XP
(recognized as the “Gold Standard” for bead based) NGS amplification clean-up and RNAClean XP for cDNA cleanup to the market.

Running genomic sequencing on such a large scale has enabled epidemiologists to track how the virus spreads, but running that many samples wouldn’t have been possible without automation. Automated NGS library construction with the Biomek i-Series or Echo liquid handlers are two of the enabling platforms available at Beckman and Analis. Watch the video

QUANTIFY INTACT VIRUS PARTICLES MORE PRECISELY AND FASTER THAN QPCR
An analytical quality by design (AQbD) approach was embraced for the development of a capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) method for the quantification of intact virus particles. With CE, the intact adenovirus particles were separated from sample matrix components such as cell debris, residual cell DNA, proteins, and salts.
