Texture analyzers

What is a texture analyzer?

A texture analyzer serves as a comprehensive system for measuring texture, employing upward or downward movement to compress or stretch a sample.
Equipped with a travelling arm containing a load cell, it captures the sample's force response to imposed deformation. Brookfield’s CTX and Lloyd’s TA1 afford operators unparalleled control and testing adaptability, enabling measurement of various physical and textural properties in solid and semi-solid systems. Their versatility lies in the accommodation of a wide array of probes and fixtures, specialized devices for assessing food structure, which can be affixed to the texture analyzer's base or arm.
Ultimately, a texture analyzer provides objective quantification, determining whether food exhibits characteristics such as crispiness, firmness, or stickiness due to specific techniques or ingredient additions in its formulation.
