Texture analyzers

What is a texture analyzer?

A texture analyzer is a system for measuring texture. It moves up or down to compress or stretch a sample.

A travelling arm fitted with a load cell captures the sample's force response to the applied deformation.

Brookfield's CTX and Lloyd's TA1 give operators precise control and testing flexibility, measuring a range of physical and textural properties in solid and semi-solid systems.

Their versatility comes from the wide choice of probes and fixtures — specialized devices for assessing food structure — that mount on the analyzer's base or arm.

A texture analyzer delivers objective quantification, showing whether food is crisp, firm or sticky as a result of specific techniques or ingredients in its formulation.

AMETEK LLOYD TA1 TEXTURE ANALYZER

AMETEK LLOYD  TA1+

A texture analyzer for compression, shear, extrusion, puncture and hardness testing — across food, pet food, cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

The Lloyd TA1+ offers a large working area with a 180 mm throat depth for bigger specimens, plus a choice of work tables. It runs fast, detailed texture profile analysis (TPA) for applications up to 102 kgf (1 kN).

Built-in test software and integration with NEXYGEN Plus data analysis software let the TA1+ exchange data with Excel and Word, transferring results automatically into company templates.

Its load accuracy of ±0.5% down to 1% of the load cell value gives a high dynamic range, reducing the need for multiple load cells to cover the full force range.

Key Features & Benefits :

  • Spacious work area
  • Data sampling rate of 8 kHz
  • Storage of up to 600 test results
  • 10 programmable test set-ups
  • Multilingual and multi-unit display options
